When I came home my wall had a cat drawn on it. I live alone, mind you.
Who would do such a thing? I mean, my walls have just been painted. It took me forever to decide on the shade of red for the bigger wall. They could at least have done it on the white wall, I wouldn't mind it so much.
Looking at it I can see that it was very well thought of, at least, and done very very fast. After all, I left the house around 3pm and came back around 10pm, and it's all done, the paint is dry. No trace of the materials as well. I never had paint lying around the house. I do have a few crayons, some color pens, those things. But this is obviously professional work, done with acrylic paint. I'll check on the crayons, just in case.
The lines are very chaotic, strokes from left and from right, they suggest someone with a knack for the expressionism. The expression on the cat's face is rather mysterious, like he's waiting for someone, not for his food, but really, for somebody. And the color choices... interesting, to say the least. I would never have thought of drawing a cat in blue, green and brown. Interesting combination, for sure. And if you think that these diagonal strokes are not easy to obtain with this kind of paint... wow, just... wow.
It actually matches the white sofas very well, and whoever did this was careful enough not to let paint get to the furniture. So thoughtful of them.
Hum, if I move the bigger sofa to the opposite wall, and the TV to the back wall, so that it's beside the art, then I can put this side table on the cat wall. It's the exact size to stay below the drawing without hiding it. Wonder if that was what they had in mind...
I'll think about that tomorrow, I'll call up someone to help me move all this. This work must be better exposed to my friends and family. It's just, well, beautiful. I was a bit annoyed about the wall, but now, looking at it, it's pretty impressive. The size... I mean, it occupies most of the wall! And they only had a few hours to finish it. Certainly the work of an experienced artist. Is it an afresco? Is that what they call this drawings directly on walls? I'll have to look it up the web later.
Amazing, simply amazing. I got out to buy shoes and have dinner and I come back to an artsy house. Everybody should have this experience!
I wonder who did it.
